Dr. Haidar Abdel Shafi Center for Culture and Development (HCCD) is an independent, non-profit Palestinian non-governmental organization established in 2014 by a group of activists, intellectuals, and community leaders in Gaza. The center inspires its vision from the journey of Dr. Haidar Abdel Shafi – a national figure, physician, and fighter for justice – and works to continue his legacy in supporting human rights, enhancing social responsibility, and establishing democratic participation principles.
The center seeks to establish a culture of civic engagement, tolerance, and non-violence, with a special focus on supporting marginalized groups, particularly women and youth. Operating across all Gaza Strip governorates, HCCD implements comprehensive programs including psychosocial support, empowerment, cultural heritage preservation, and community development as means to foster resilience and peacebuilding. We believe in the importance of building a fair and inclusive society where all individuals – regardless of gender, background, or social status – enjoy equal opportunities to contribute to shaping a better future.
